Job Summary
Wisconsin Institute of Functional Medicine (WIFM) seeks an experienced, dependable, and patient-centered Phlebotomist to join our integrative healthcare team. This part-time role plays a critical role in our diagnostic process by ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient blood collection that meets both clinical standards and our values of empathy and excellence. Your steady hands and calm presence will help patients feel at ease while contributing to timely, accurate diagnostics for our functional medicine providers.
Responsibilities
As a Phlebotomist at WIFM, you’ll play a key role in supporting our mission to provide personalized, root-cause healthcare. With your steady expertise and compassionate approach, you’ll help ensure a seamless, comfortable, and professional experience for every patient. Working alongside our collaborative clinical team, you’ll contribute directly to accurate diagnostics and exceptional care. Your responsibilities will include:
Opening the lab each morning
Performing venipuncture and capillary punctures with precision and compassion (approx. every 15 minutes) for all age groups
Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for diagnostic testing
Maintaining cleanliness and adherence to safety/infection control standards
Ensuring proper documentation of procedures and maintaining accurate records in the EHR
Assisting with inventory and stocking of phlebotomy-related supplies
Providing exceptional patient care and comfort during procedures
Collaborating with medical assistants, nurses, and providers to ensure seamless patient flow
Ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming lab area
Wear a designated uniform while representing WIFM’s professional image
Administrative and clerical duties as necessary
Flexibility to work alternative hours as needed

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) preferred
Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or healthcare setting
Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques
Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred
Familiarity with specimen handling, labeling, and lab protocols
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
