Nurse Practitioner – Train Here. Grow Here. Launch From Here.
About Wisconsin Institute of Functional Medicine
WIFM is built around one belief: patients deserve care that looks for causes, not just diagnoses. We’ve created a collaborative, systems-driven clinic where functional medicine is practiced with depth, discipline, and integrity, creating a 5-star patient experience. We also see ourselves as a training hub for functional medicine clinicians. Some providers build long-term careers within WIFM. Others eventually branch out on their own. Both paths are respected.
Your vision can fit within ours.
Job Summary
Who This Is For
You’re an experienced Nurse Practitioner who knows conventional care has limits. You are tired of the 10-minute visit seeing 20+ pt’s a day.
You’re ready to think more deeply. You want to understand the root causes. You’re willing to study, refine your thinking, and build real expertise. You believe the patients deserve a 5-star experience, and you want them to have a great outcome! And maybe one day, you see yourself leading your own functional medicine practice — either under the WIFM umbrella or independently.
This is not just a job. It’s structured preparation for your future in functional medicine.
What Makes This Different
This role includes a structured 24-month mentorship and immersion process designed to build true competency in functional medicine. You’ll be trained to think differently.
- Weekly case‑review meetings with senior clinicians
- Structured modules on functional endocrinology, cardiometabolic health, gut microbiome science, environmental toxicity, autoimmunity
- Training in advanced lab panels: GI‑MAP, DUTCH, organic acids, mycotoxin panels, specialty cardiometabolic tests
- Shadowing opportunities for complex cases
- Quarterly skills check-ins to ensure mastery
Over two years, you’ll develop:
- Root-cause clinical reasoning
- Advanced lab interpretation skills
- Personalized care plan development
- Incorporate peptides into clinical care
- Understand the role of supplements, IV therapy, and exosomes
- Lifestyle and behavior-change coaching strategies
- Systems for delivering high-touch care creating a 5-star patient experience
- Insight into how a successful functional clinic operates
If your long-term goal is to practice functional medicine independently, this is the foundation.
The Bigger Picture
We don’t just want to hire a provider.
We want to help build a functional medicine clinician who can stand confidently on their own one day — whether that’s within WIFM or beyond it.
If that’s your trajectory, we’d love to talk.
